Loyalty and Relationships. Many people have asked me why is it that 1000 Cranes has been able to continue to grow and thrive for over 10 years? I always tell them, it’s because we have loyal clients and we are loyal to them. They call on 1000 Cranes to help them, and they support us continuously when we start innovative new programs.
Potential Conflict. We also know that if there is another client that may be a potential competitor, we reach out to our current clients first before pursuing any business that could cause conflict. We show loyalty to our clients just as much as they show loyalty to us. Having a loyal following and continued business relationship is important for sustaining your business.
11 Year Anniversary. We are blessed […]
A few months ago, I was asked to give a speech on Professional Mentoring to the District 36 Toastmasters Conference up in Silver Spring, MD. While preparing for the presentation, I reflected back on the many mentors I’ve had in my career. I have been very lucky that people saw potential in me and spent the time to help me become a better leader.
Experiences. When I moved to North Carolina in 1992, I arrived at a time when the Internet had not been as ubiquitous as it is today. I had been extremely lucky up to that point having graduated from UC Berkeley, worked at Genentech (a biotech firm) and then had been a network consultant at Stanford University. Access to the Internet was a requirement for me when deciding on a […]
Preparation. For many of you who are following this blog, you likely know that we have been preparing the company for the last six months for the Licensing Expo which is taking place next week at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas!
In reflection we have accomplished a great deal as we transition into providing services and products to the children’s market.
- We created cartoon characters based upon the 1000 Cranes logo. These characters are a vehicle to bridge our services between more mature audiences and the children’s market.
- We hired a new legal team to advise us on the correct categories for us to register our new cartoon characters.
- We created a line of origami paper products that can be sold or used as giveaways […]
This week, I am spending time on the West Coast in the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and my home town of San Francisco, California. I feel very blessed to have been born in San Francisco and to be raised in the suburb of Daly City when I was growing up. As I would hit my favorite haunts around the city, I realized that although I haven’t visited the city in about four years, it doesn’t matter how long I’ve been away, it always feels like home.
Home. As the famous phrase says, “Home is where the heart is.” Although I currently love calling North Carolina my home, there is […]
Year of Change. In the last five months, we’ve seen tremendous changes in our company. 2014 marks the year that we make a transition into the children’s market. As you’ve seen in previous posts, this transition did not happen overnight, and started in October 2012 when the seed was first planted at the US Trademark Expo.
This is a task that couldn’t be done alone, and if it wasn’t for the talent of several people involved in the project, our first launch of our origami paper packs could not be where it is today.
– Maddie Winecoff, our intern from Salem College, for her incredible talent as a designer of […]
Brand New Market! On May 13, 2014, 1000 Cranes produced its first product specifically geared to a new market, the children’s market, especially those who have read the legend of 1000 Cranes and are interested in folding origami cranes. When we registered the company back in September 2003 as a consulting practice, the art of folding cranes was the inspiration for the name of the company.
It wasn’t the intention of the company to move into this market. 10 years later, we’ve found that in order to grow, we need to consider other options. The company has primarily focused its attention on the nonprofit market. Mostly because this is where the company was founded. The company was founded on helping nonprofits utilize business practices to become more effective. Many of the workshops, consulting, coaching and other service offerings were based on meeting the […]
