When I heard about the dramatic departure of JetBlue flight attendant, Steven Slater, after a dispute with a customer, it made me wonder why this event resonated with so many people. Was it the dramatic departure by opening a door and dramatically leaping off into the inflatable slide? Or was it the fact that he was jailed for a day for his act?
Social media and blogs now allow us to propagate images and stories so quickly now that events like this become sensational news. What may have been just a small story with a traditional news network, this story has now "grown legs" to become a multimedia sensation.
Why do you think Steven Slater's story is interesting to so many people?
If you were placed into a similar situation, how would you react?
Do you think Slater's punishment fit the crime?
